Privacy Policy

The CFT International Pty Ltd (CFTi) respects the right of all staff and students to information privacy.  Information collected and held is kept in accordance with information privacy laws.

This document sets out the policy of CFTi in relation to the collection/handling or personal/health information.

Statement of Commitment

CFTi respects the privacy of all individuals.  Furthermore, CFTi is committed to ensuring that all staff (including contractors) comply at all times with their obligations under the Information Privacy Act 2000 and the Health Records Act 2001.  These Acts are based on privacy principles that can be briefly summarised as:

Personal information (and/or health information) should be for the purpose for which is was collected, and should be safeguarded from misuse.

  • CFTi currently collects/holds personal information in relation to its employees and students

  • CFTi only collects personal and/or health information that is required to provide staff/students with services that meet their needs.

Personal Information Requirements

  • CFTi will collect information only if necessary for an identified lawful purpose

  • CFTi will ensure that the person involved knows for what purpose the information is being collected

  • CFTi will disclose information only for the purpose for which it was collected and if the information is  required for other purposes then permission must be sought from the individual involved.

  • CFTi will ensure that the information is accurate before using it

  • CFTi will implement security safeguards and disposal policies to reduce risks of unauthorised access, use, modification and disclosure CFTi will remove personal information from the system when it is no longer required, unless bound by archiving guidelines

  • CFTi will ensure that staff and students can exercise their right to have access to, and seek to correct, information about them held by CFT

  • CFTi will provide avenues for staff and students to find out more about how their information is handled, and provide assistance with the complaint procedure if they believe their information has not been handled in accordance with the relevant privacy principles.

Procedures for Dealing with Privacy Issues

  1. No financial information will be kept longer than is necessary to process the student and to verify their payment. (For example, all credit card details are destroyed once the payment has been verified).

  2. No information will be passed onto a third party by either staff or trainers without the permission of the student involved.

  3. All sensitive material such as staff/trainer personal information will be kept in the office filing cabinet with access granted only by the Office Manager.

  4. All student information is kept on a database which has an access password.

  5. All personal details of students is kept under lock and key at head Office.

  6. If a student wishes to obtain personal information, then staff must first establish that they are the person concerned ie obtain some identification that will verify their identity such as a photo id card.

They will then be provided with all the information they require without disclosing any information about other students.

CFT will correct any errors verified by the student.
